The thing that stands out to me is that, if you look at Hull KR's main forwards:-
Tanginoa, Batchelor, Hadley, Luckley, Minchella, Whitehead
These are all guys who have been up and down the league's, milled around at lower SL clubs, probably been written off as journeymen.
Under Wires71's view of the world, all of these players should have been fired as soon as they lost one game or had one off performance.
In reality, Wigan and Hull KR are ahead of us because they don't go into existential panic as soon as they have an off-day, they just move on quickly and believe in what they're doing.
Certain fans on here have a firing squad lined up each time we lose.
Nothing to do with one game, myself and a fellow poster were talking about "squad quality". Some of us share the view our squad quality has been exposed through performances this season (even before injury). I think most have agreed the squad and recruitment are not where they should be for 2025. I don't see why that it contentious. So do you believe in what we are doing? Signings like Russell and Johnson et al? Signing a young understudy halfback and not playing him when we had 3 halfbacks out with injury? Continually picking Crowther despite form not because of it? I agree with most of that. Our recruitment is shocking and the way we have used the players we have is weird: players come in for a bit and then are scrapped, so we keep losing continuity in key areas of the field. I don't think we were well prepared for the season and that showed in the first half a dozen games, after which we actually improved significantly but players started dropping like flies. Where I can't agree is padding out lists because I think some of the individuals have been better than you say they have. I think Tai has been excellent in the last month and Crowther had a really good game against Leigh. Holroyd I don't think should be anywhere near a list of 'shirt fillers'.

No Holroyd should not be classed as a shirt filler as he is young and deserves the chance to develop. As I said I don't think he is ready for the first team yet, who knows in the future. Crowther has been pretty poor in the games he played this season, but everyone lifted against Leigh. No doubt he is a grafter and gives 100% but lacks size and impact as his average gain of < 5m shows. We can improve on that position. It's hard not to like Tai as a character, and he can hit hard in defence when he is in the correct position and takes the kick return up hard. With the ball is a different story, 2 tries, average gain of < 6m and 0 (zero) try assists and 1 offload for a centre is a poor return. I stand by my argument than none of these 3 would make the Wigan and Hull KR sides currently, and I suspect that view is shared by a few others on here.

That's unfair, it's more about the fact that we're 9th in the league around halfway through the season and our two biggest rivals are streets ahead. I think it's a justified frustration and not knee jerk.

| 2 points off 6th, 16 games to go, having not played either of of whipping boys of the league yet. And in a cup final. Turning up for each other with excellent efforts like Thewlis against Leigh, coming back 16 days after a cheekbone op and putting performances together with actual youth products in the team.
Its a bit premature to be sacking the coach because he’s signing up to an NRL club in the future.

What is the importance of 6th place? Only 1st and 2nd win the GF under this system and we are miles off those places and teams. Are you harbouring thoughts that we will win the GF from 6th this season? Or do you think Sam could win us the title in 2026? If Sam left gracefully, and mutually agreed, at the end of the season it would mean we could get a coach in who could commit to the longer term a year earlier.
